Hibberdene Bowling Club is situated in the village of Hibberdene on the south coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal about 100km from the city of Durban.
When the club was first established it was situated on the beach front and was officially opened on the 27th March 1965.
In 1975 the then Hibberdene Town Board issued a public tender for the construction of 2 bowling greens and a club house for the village of Hibberdene. However it was not until 1991 - 16 years later, that our present bowling green & clubhouse were built and on the 18th October 1991 the club moved over to the new premises and was officially opened.
Since that date the club has grown & now boasts a membership of between 60 & 65 members.
The club is affiliated to KBA ( Kingfisher Bowling Association)and BSA (Bowls South Africa).
Over the years we have hosted many KBA tournaments and can boast one of the best greens on the south coast and well suited for championship games. Once a year at the beginning of June we hold a mixed fours tournament called the Hibiscus Tournament, which is played over 5 days. This tournament has been running for the last 35 years and attracts teams from all over South Africa. What makes this tournament so attractive is that it takes place at the time of year when the weather is at its best and the matches are played at 5 different venues along the South Coast.
Our club house has a covered patio overlooking our picturesque bowling green and is the
ideal place to sit and watch bowls while enjoying a refreshing glass of beer or cup of tea.
Our club is known on the south coast as the friendly club and friends and bowling visitors are always welcome.
